Midsommar Title Sequence
I created a title sequence for the movie “midsommar” by Ari Aster. The movie has themes of spring and celebration which slowly turn eerie and unsettling as the plot progresses. I tried to represent this in my design with original videography of flowers and “nectar” (a common motif throughout the film). I remixed the song “Pillar of Na” by the band Saintseneca to create a soundtrack for my piece that fit the mood.
Never seen the movie? Midsommar is a 2019 folk horror film written and directed by Ari Aster. The film stars Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor as a dysfunctional couple who travel to Sweden with a group of friends for a midsummer festival, only to find themselves in the clutches of a sinister cult practicing Scandinavian paganism. Supporting actors include William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgren, Ellora Torchia, Archie Madekwe and Will Poulter.
