Eco-Hex | 48 Hour Repack
Student Competition (2023)
Every year, 48 Hour Repack hosts a student packaging design contest in which teams of up to 5 designers are tasked with completing a design prompt and creating a video pitch of their final product. Eco-Hex was a submission to the 2023 prompt supplied by WestRock. Learn more about the competition here.
ASK

Create an e-commerce shipping box that can protect a product without needing to add extra cushioning material while maintaining the ability to be flattened and recycled.
PROCESS

Met with teammates prior to the contest to organize roles and plan meeting times before the release of the prompt

Spent the first 24 hours making the product through a process of research, collaborative ideation, material sourcing, product trials and refinements, and printing of the final product

Spent the second 24 hours producing a video advertising the product leveraging the use of light boxes, video cameras, lighting tools, and skills in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro
OUTCOME

A package design meeting all the requirements listed in the prompt paired with a high quality video advertisement highlighting the product’s capabilities
